![]() It is really really annoying to have RD affect my desktop like this so that I have to power down every time I make the mistake of trying to RD into it when the screensaver is on. Shut my desktop down with the power button (because it's effectively unusable), all the program windows suddenly re-appear and then shut down one by one as windows shuts down. I try everything from ctrl-alt-del to shift-tab - nothing happens. I exit the RD client normally and thenĬheck my desktop, after logging back in I find that the desktop is completely empty: no icons, no task bars - nothing - just my wallpaper across the two screens. (Though RD forcesĪll open windows on the host onto a single screen on the main monitor, which is annoying when I return to my desktop.) I have a significant problem, however, if my desktop is in screensaver mode (and/or the monitors go to sleep - not sure which conditionĬauses the problem.) If the desktop is in this state when I try to connect with the RD client, I get a connection but the screen on the laptop (client) is just blank - nothing at all but a blue background. I can connect to it using the RD client on my Windows 7 64 bit laptop without any problems if my desktop is "awake". Both operating systems report having Remote Desktop Connection 7.0, but not Remote Desktop Connection 7.1. I have RD host set up on my desktop running XP Pro SP3 with two monitors (dual display is managed by Ultramon). Our machines are a mixture of Windows 7 (WITHOUT SERVICE PACK 1) and Windows XP SP3.
